Instead, we witness the traces of a walk that took place in Freiburg 10 years later: what should have really happened turns into fiction. All the collective actions that should have taken place in Freiburg, Vahram carried out alone, in Yerevan. Using the map of Freiburg, the artist walks the streets of Yerevan, documenting the present and imagining another reality and landscape. He documented Yerevan as if it were Freiburg—a city he has never visited.
Echoes from Day 3650 presents artifacts from this imagined future walk—envelopes scattered like time capsules containing photographs, notes, and sketches. These materials bear a deliberate displacement: images taken in Yerevan stand in for Freiburg’s landscape in the year 2035. A map of the Freiburg route overlays Yerevan’s streets, creating a ghostly journey where one city’s history haunts another’s future.
Through this artistic gesture, the artist transcends spatial and temporal distances, emphasizing the paradoxes of separation and proximity, absence and presence. This new, transformed work brings us closer to Aghasyan’s artistic practice, in which past and future are intertwined. It immerses us in the artist’s utopian world—one that seems impossible today, and yet keeps alive the human capacity to dream and retrace new, imagined paths.
